Disinfecting your razor blades is a gesture that few people do. Here are my tips for properly disinfecting your razor blades.

If you are a user of a safety razor or a straight razor, it is necessary to disinfect the razor blade. Indeed, this gesture is part of the essential maintenance of your shaving equipment, such as cleaning your razor blades thoroughly after each use. Even more so if you use your razor blades all the way. So of course, if you use a disposable razor, it is not necessarily necessary to disinfect a razor blade, except, again, if you keep your razor for months, which is not at all advisable.

Here are my tips for disinfecting a razor blade.

Why disinfect a razor blade?

It is necessary to disinfect a razor blade for several reasons:

Disinfect a razor blade against bacteria

Did you know razor blades can carry bacteria? And yes, your skin and especially your beard hair have bacteria, which will therefore end up on the razor blade after your shaving session. This is why it is essential to disinfect a razor blade, so that the next time the razor blade passes, it will be perfectly clean.

Disinfect a razor blade against diseases

If you share your razor with a partner (it usually happens that way!), you don't necessarily know your partner's state of health at the moment. He or she may be a carrier of a communicable disease. And it can go through the razor's edge, especially if you have sensitive skin and are prone to cuts and bleeding. It is therefore essential to disinfect a razor blade.

Disinfect a razor blade against infections

If you are prone to shaving cuts, or if you have acne pimples, for example, which become infected when the razor blade passes, it is necessary to have perfectly clean razor blades to avoid infections.
