With the approach of summer and sunny days, when we feel that we are going to take out our legs and arms again, or even the torso for men, it is time to ask ourselves the question of body hair. ! Because the hairs have less and less the coast in men. Also, there are different ways to remove hair, but men are discovering with a certain happiness the interest of using a depilatory cream.

Here's everything you need to know about hair removal cream.

Why choose hair removal cream?

There are different ways to do hair removal, whether we are a woman or a man. To remove the hair, you can indeed opt for:

  • shaving

  • wax

  • the epilator

  • and of course hair removal cream.

I'm not going to talk about permanent hair removal. But hair removal cream can be a very good compromise between all these solutions for several reasons.

Hair removal cream is convenient

Depilatory cream is certainly the most practical way to do hair removal. Simply apply the depilatory cream to the affected area and wait a few minutes, then rinse. Depending on the area to be waxed, you can therefore do other things on the side.

Hair removal cream is painless

This is the big difference with wax, and the reason many people choose hair removal cream for hair removal. She is pain free. No eye drops like wax.

Depilatory cream for specific areas

Some people will want to use hair removal cream to remove hair from specific areas, such as the testicles. Indeed, in some areas, waxing is simply impossible and a shaving cut would be dramatic. So depilatory cream is the way area to remove hair. Similarly, depilation of the back with depilatory cream can be a good alternative if you are depilating your back alone.

How does hair removal cream work?

It is true that one can wonder how the depilatory cream works! Because it may seem surprising to apply a cream to the area to be depilated and, after a few minutes, to see all the dead hair. All you have to do is use the spatula to remove them, then rinse off in the shower.

So you should know that the depilatory cream will simply dissolve the hair. Yes, you read it right, it will dissolve it. To do this, the depilatory cream will directly attack the keratin, which is the main constituent of the hair. And these are compounds of chemical elements that will dissolve the hair. Depilatory cream is therefore not a natural product.

What is the difference between wax and a depilatory cream?

The difference between the two is very simple:

  • The depilatory cream will dissolve the hair without touching its root.

  • While the wax will pull out the root of the hair.

This is why hair grows back more slowly after waxing than after hair removal with depilatory cream.

What is the difference between electric hair removal and hair removal cream?

The difference is exactly the same as with waxing: the epilator will attack the hair root directly.

How to choose the right depilatory cream.

To choose the right depilatory cream, different points must be taken into account.

Depilatory cream according to its format

The great thing about hair removal creams is that you're spoiled for choice! Indeed, as it is a very practical product to have a perfectly hairless skin, better than a shave, the brands offer depilatory creams in different formats. You will have the choice between:

  • cream in a tube, which is the most standard format,

  • depilatory cream in foam format,

  • you will also have depilatory sprays, etc.

Depilatory cream according to the areas to be depilated

Today women and even men wax all parts of the body, whether classic areas such as leg waxing or armpit waxing, or less classic areas, especially for men, such as a depilation of the arms or depilation of the intimate areas.

Thus, depending on the area to be depilated, you will have to choose a good depilatory cream:

Facial hair removal cream

If you plan to depilate your face with a depilatory cream, you will have to use a facial depilatory cream which is much weaker than another depilatory cream. Whether for women's mustaches or for men's beards. You shouldn't burn your facial skin, which is very fragile.

Depilatory cream private parts and swimsuit

If you plan to depilate your bikini line with depilatory cream, or depilate your testicles with depilatory cream or FIS, you will need to use a depilatory cream for sensitive skin. As for the face, the skin of these private parts is very fragile, you risk burning your skin.

Chest hair removal cream

If you want to do chest hair removal with hair removal cream, you can use black hair removal cream. The skin of the torso is indeed thick, and by respecting the exposure time, you do not risk any burns.

Back hair removal cream

Depilatory cream is undoubtedly the best way to do back hair removal when you are alone. Because applying a cream on the back is relatively easy, even if you are not very flexible. And to remove it you simply have to go in the shower. As for the torso, the skin on the back is not the most fragile, you can use a normal depilatory cream

Arm hair removal cream

Many women use hair removal cream on their arms, normally when the hair is brown. But you should know that more and more men are also waxing their arms, especially when they have a tattoo, so that it is more and more visible. For the arms, you can use a normal depilatory cream.

Thigh and leg hair removal cream

If you want to have beautiful cycling legs, quickly, hair removal cream is ideal. Because with wax, given the area to be depilated, which is still large, it may be painful. to depilate thighs or legs, you can also take a classic depilatory cream.

How to use hair removal cream

The steps to apply a depilatory cream

Before applying the depilatory cream to the area to be depilated, here are some tips to follow:

  • open your bathroom window or door, as hair removal creams usually have a strong smell, which is quite unpleasant. If you don't want your roommate to know that you've applied hair removal cream to your body, you'll have to open everything up!

  • apply hair removal cream before showering, not after. Indeed, the depilatory cream is applied on perfectly dry skin, there should be no droplets. If your skin is wet, the hair removal cream will not set properly.

  • put the depilatory cream only on the area concerned by the hair removal:

    • Be careful if you are depilating SIF with depilatory cream, do not put it on the mucous membranes of the anus.

    • if you are depilating the testicles or even depilating the jersey with depilatory cream, do not put it on the penis.

  • leave the depilatory cream on for the necessary time, indicated by the brand on the instructions for use. This is the time required for the depilatory cream to dissolve the hair. However, if before this time you find that all your hair is dead, you can remove the depilatory cream with the spatula. In any case, do not leave the depilatory cream on longer than indicated by the brand, or you risk burning your skin.

  • rinse the depilatory cream under water, taking your shower to remove it better. You can use either the provided spatula or a washcloth.

When you get out of the shower, apply a natural moisturizer, such as a light cream or a mist of thermal water, to your skin. This will be good for your skin, which has still been attacked by the depilatory cream. In any case, do not use a product that contains alcohol.

How much depilatory cream to put?

The amount of depilatory cream to apply to the area to be depilated will simply depend on your hair type:

  • if you have thin, sparse hair, you can only cover the hair and wait.

  • if you have thick, dense hair, you will need to apply a certain layer to the area to be waxed.

In what situations should hair removal cream be avoided?

If you have lesions on the part of the skin that you want to depilate with depilatory cream, do not do it. These lesions may be skin cuts, including shaving cuts if you have shaved before. But it can also be eczema, psoriasis, etc.). Do not apply depilatory cream because you could burn yourself, or even make your skin problem worse.

Likewise, if you have sensitive skin, it is not advisable to use hair removal cream. Because the depilatory cream could burn you, especially on the thinnest parts of the skin (testicles, gluteal fold, armpits, etc.). Do not hesitate to apply a small dab of cream on the skin to see how it reacts, before applying all the depilatory cream. You will see how your skin reacts.

give up the depilatory cream! You risk hurting yourself even more.

Hair regrowth with hair removal cream

You should know that by using a depilatory cream, the hair will grow back after 4 to 6 days. Of course, this is very variable depending on the person, it depends on genetics and therefore in some people it will take longer.

Depilatory cream thus allows hair to grow back longer than shaving, but faster than with wax. Because as a reminder, the root of the hair is not removed.
