Today more and more people are starting to make their own beauty products for men . And among the products thus produced, we find homemade toothpaste.

 

Why make homemade toothpaste?

 

The advantages of making your own toothpaste are very numerous:

  • it's very simple to do it: making your own toothpaste is very accessible, within everyone's reach. This can even be an activity to do with your child to encourage him to brush his teeth.

What ingredients to put in your homemade toothpaste?

You can make the base of your homemade toothpaste with different products. The products that can be used as a base for your homemade toothpaste are:

  • white clay

  • baking soda

  • vegetable glycerin

  • charcoal

  • miswak powder

You can also add other products to bring comfort and taste to your homemade toothpaste.

  • mint essential oil

  • lemon essential oil

  • coconut oil

What materials are needed to make homemade toothpaste?

You only need very few materials to make your homemade toothpaste:

  • a mortar and pestle (if you make mojitos you must have this!!),

  • spoon

  • a dispenser

  • a small jar with a lid.

Simple homemade toothpaste recipe

Here is a very simple first recipe for homemade toothpaste, which only requires two ingredients: baking soda and coconut oil. Why add coconut oil to baking soda? Because bicarbonate can be very abrasive if used alone. Moreover, it is recommended to brush your teeth only once a week with baking soda alone. The addition of coconut oil will not only reduce the amount of baking soda you put on the toothbrush, but will make the abrasive side less strong. 

 

Mix all these ingredients until you get a paste. If you want to bring a little taste to this homemade toothpaste, and freshness for the breath, you can add essential oils:

Homemade toothpaste recipe for sensitive teeth

If you have sensitive teeth, here is an easy recipe to make:

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 2 tablespoons powdered white clay

  • 2 powdered cloves

Mix all these ingredients until you get a paste.

If you want to make this homemade toothpaste more palatable, you can add 2 drops of   peppermint essential oil .

Homemade vegetable charcoal toothpaste recipe

Vegetable charcoal on the coast in natural toothpastes, moreover, it is the ingredient that we see most often in toothpastes that can be bought in organic stores. The main effect of vegetable charcoal is to have a teeth whitening side. It is also less abrasive than baking soda, so it can be used for everyday use without issue. Here is a recipe for homemade toothpaste made from vegetable charcoal:

  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable charcoal

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • 10 drops of lemon essential oil

Mix all these ingredients until you get a paste.
