Exfoliate your beard: the benefits of beard scrub
Having a beard scrub has many benefits, such as having a healthier, softer beard and better hair growth. Find here my tips for doing a beard scrub.
The facial scrub is a treatment that I recommend very often, whether in my blog articles when testing products or via my various stories on Instagram. The benefits of facial exfoliation are indeed very numerous, it allows you to have perfectly clear skin. But some beard care brands also offer beard scrub products. Are they really useful?
You can also find my explanatory video on the beard scrub at the end of the article.
Why do a beard scrub?
If you have a long beard, like a hipster beard , you are certainly one of those men who tends to leave the skin under their beard. We indeed have the impression that the beard will protect the skin and that it is not necessary to take care of it. What is wrong. Moreover, men who have skin problems and who seek at all costs to avoid the appearance of beard dandruff know this well.
A beard scrub to regulate sebum
The skin is indeed in perpetual renewal, approximately every 28 days. Thus, the skin cells are renewed, but those that are dead remain on the skin and will clog the pores, thus preventing the sebum from regulating itself. This will cause some skin imperfections, such as pimples, and the feeling of having the skin shiny.
A beard scrub to remove dead cells
Through the beard scrub, we also find one of the benefits of facial scrub: that of removing dead cells. Because there is no doubt about it, even under your beard, your skin regenerates regularly, on average every 28 days. And during this phase, dead cells will end up in your beard. Moreover, if there are too many, these dead cells will become dry dandruff in your beard.
Beard scrub to prevent pimples
If your skin under the beard is not sufficiently cleansed, thus if your skin has too much oil and too many dead cells, then the pores of your skin will be clogged. And this will be characterized by two effects:
on the one hand the arrival of buttons
on the other hand, the appearance of blackheads.
It is therefore necessary to make a beard scrub to avoid all these skin imperfections which will have a negative effect on your beard and prevent you from having a beautiful beard.
A beard scrub for the good of your skin
Scrubbing the face will also help promote blood circulation. Thus, the fact of exfoliating the skin will allow it to be deeply cleansed and sanitized. It will be neater, it will breathe better and it will be in better condition to function well.
A beard scrub for beautiful hair
The quality of your skin depends on it, but also the quality of your hair. By scrubbing your beard, and therefore the skin under your beard, you will make the hair follicle healthier. And since the hair takes root in the hair follicle, if it is not healthy, then the hair will not be in its most beautiful condition:
Thus, there is a risk of generating oily dandruff in your beard, i.e. dandruff that is linked to an excess of sebum on the hairs of your beard.
The hair also risks being more fragile and therefore breaking more easily.
Finally, a hair follicle in poor condition can have a negative impact on beard growth and promote holes in the beard .
A beard scrub to grow your beard
As I said above, the beard scrub will make the hair follicle healthy. Indeed, you should know that the beard scrub, with the grains and the massage effect on the skin by the circular gestures that you are going to perform, stimulates blood microcirculation. And it's very very good for the hair follicle to work properly and allow the beard hair to grow as optimally as possible. You should know that in an unhealthy hair follicle, beard hair can fall out and cause holes in the beard.
As you can see, beard scrub is therefore very important to perfectly maintain your beard and have the most beautiful beard possible.

How to make a beard scrub
What products to use for a beard scrub?
If you want to do a beard scrub, you have several options:
The face scrub to make a beard scrub
Either you use the same face scrub product you use. It may be suitable if you have a short beard like a 3-day beard. On the other hand, if you have a beard of several weeks, or even several months, I do not recommend it. Because this type of facial scrub risks damaging the hair of your beard.
The exfoliating soap to make a beard scrub
Otherwise, you can use beard care products, such as exfoliating soap. The vegetable oil integrated into the soap will have a beneficial effect on the hydration of the hair.
The homemade way to make a beard scrub
Finally, you can make your own homemade beard scrub using coffee grounds or sugar that you will mix with your beard oil, or simply olive oil. You can find an article on vegetable oils to use to make homemade beard oil .
The steps to make a beard scrub
To perform a beard scrub, here are the different steps:
First, wet your beard (you can do the beard scrub directly in the shower).
put a good dab of beard scrub in your hand and spread over your entire beard
massage your beard deeply using circular movements. Press well so as to massage your skin under the beard, because this is the part that must be erased. Do this for a good 2-5 minutes.
then rinse with clean water to remove most of the grains
finish your beard scrub by doing a beard shampoo to remove the last grains that may have remained embedded in the beard hair.
It turns out that many beard scrub products come in the form of a soap. In this case, to use it, simply rub the exfoliating soap on the beard longer than for an ordinary soap and then wash the beard in a completely classic way.
When to scrub a beard
As with the face scrub, it is recommended to do a beard scrub:
Once a week for normal skin
1 time every 10 days for very sensitive skin
1 to 2 times a week for oily skin.
Be careful to choose a beard scrub whose grains are not too aggressive for the skin under your beard. The idea is not to attack him.
